This light-curable, nano-hybrid composite from GC has improved physical properties and offers a wide range of clinical applications, unsurpassed durability, natural opalescence and excellent, lifelike aesthetics.
This video shows how easy it is to get a convincing, aesthetic result with minimum effort by using the injection technique with GRADIA™ PLUS Light Body pastes. With this technique a diagnostic wax-up; either printed, milled or hand-made, is translated into a highly aesthetic restoration. The injection technique is especially suitable for complicated implant cases or high-end crowns & bridges with a complex anatomy.
In the CAD/CAM production centre, the gypsum model with implant Scan flags is scanned using the Aadva Lab Scan. The used Scan flags enable to reproduce the exact implant location with high precision and accuracy.
After scanning the model in the Aadva® Lab Scan, a full anatomical, digital mock-up is designed and printed using GC Temp PRINT™and then digitally reduced to design the framework, which is milled in titanium.
The mock-up is screwed onto the model and EXACLEAR, a clear vinyl polysiloxane allowing optimal light distribution, is used as gingiva mask. Then, the model is fixed into the flask with a putty with sprues fixed on the mock-up. Ideally, a sprue of Ø3.0 mm is used because this corresponds with the tip of the GRADIA PLUS Light Body syringes. Before closing the flask, the putty surface is coated with a bit of vaseline or a dedicated separator. Then, the entire flask is filled with a clear silicone and put into a pressure pot.
Meanwhile, the titanium framework that was milled in GC’s CAD/CAM production centre is sandblasted and cleaned. METAL PRIMER Z is applied and left to dry. Thin layers of GRADIA PLUS Opaque are applied and light-cured for 1 minute with Labolight DUO. This is repeated until the metal is completely masked. For extra individualisation, darker or lighter shades of opaque can be used.
When ready, the mock-up is removed from the model and replaced by the titanium framework, screwed onto the AadvaTM Implant model analogues. Cervical and occlusal areas are covered with small amounts of LB-orange and light-cured to create a warm, in-depth effect. LB-Base OD can be used to create a mamelon effect on the incisal edges.
After closing the flask, Light Body A is injected. The composite should flow from sprue to sprue until it gently comes out. A finger is placed onto the channels with slight pressure.
After injecting, the GRADIA PLUS is cured with Labolight DUO. A cut-back is performed on the anterior teeth, CERAMIC PRIMER II applied on the surface and left to dry. Internal characterisation of the anterior teeth is carried out with different Light Body Effect shades. Alternatively, Lustre Paint can be used. Modeling Liquid is used for easy handling. Intermediate curing is done with the Labolight DUO in step mode.

The model back is placed back in the flask, the screwholes are closed with Teflon and wax and the top part is carefully screwed back onto the flask. The correct positioning is verified and LB-Base E is used to inject the enamel part and light-cured afterwards. The top part is unscrewed again and sprues are removed with a diamond disk. Wax and Teflon are removed from the screw holes and the restoration is unscrewed. Due to the transparency of EXACLEAR, the basal area is also fully cured. The contour and shape are adjusted with diamond and tungsten burs. Gingival anatomy is reproduced using Gum Heavy Body shades for creating volume and Gum Light Body shades for characterisation.
A combination of Gum Light Body shades is used to cover the lingual area. A thin layer of diluted Lustre Paint CL-F on the tooth surface and non-fluorescent LP-CL on the gingival part are used to obtain final gloss and vitality.
After step-curing, the entire area is covered with GRADIA PLUS AIR BARRIER and light-cured in Labolight DUO for 3 minutes.
