ONE of THREE laundry facilities within UCSB's San Clemente Village Apartments. If space is available after all new and continuing graduate students have been accommodated, the remaining spaces are allocated to undergraduate students. There have been approximately 1/4 undergraduate students.

SAN CLEMENTE VILLAGES opened for fall quarter 2008 and is the first UCSB housing facility for single graduate students. It is very close to the main campus and residents appreciate being a part of campus life.

San Clemente Villages is a showcase of sustainable practice and is double certified LEED* Gold (Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance in 2012 and New Construction in 2009).

It is the largest university apartment complex in the country to have this distinction.
Location: El Colegio Road at the corner of El Colegio and Stadium Roads (street numbers #6510-#6550).

Graduate students can choose their contract term:
9 month academic year contract
10 month contract (September 1 -- June 30)
11.5 month contract (September 1 -- August 15)

New graduate students are guaranteed two years as long as they adhere to all procedures and deadlines each year.

150 two-bedroom apartments (2 people per apartment) and 166 four-bedroom apartments (4 people per apartment).

All apartments have private bedrooms and are fully furnished (see floor plans).
Three community buildings provide recreational, meeting, and study space, and are conveniently located throughout the complex. The Castaic classroom includes an LCD Interactive Screen. A large community center in the middle of the complex provides space for residents to gather for special events.

All contracts include:
basic cable
high-speed wired/wireless internet
regular housekeeping and landscaping in commons areas
on-site laundry rooms
gas, electricity
water
garbage pick-up
parking
24-hour on-call maintenance, emergency staff

Residents have access to the Santa Ynez Apartments Fitness Center to work out and check out sporting equipment.

2 bedroom (2 occupants): $984/month
4 bedroom (4 occupants): $857/month

Q: Is there a piano I can use?
A: Yes, in the student community center.

Q: Is parking available?
A: Each resident is entitled to a parking permit at no extra charge. There are enough parking spaces for every resident.

Q: Can I have my own room?
A: All bedrooms are singles.

Q: Do I need to bring furniture?
A: Enough furniture is provided by the university and must remain in the apartment, as no storage is available.

Q: Can I request a specific apartment?
A: Housing services is unable to accommodate specific apartment requests.

Q: Can I choose with whom I live?
A: You can request a roommate that has the same type of contract as you. During the continuing student application process, you can apply with specific roommates. Actual room and roommate assignments are not made until late summer, so roommate requests can be made and modified through mid-summer.

Q: When should I apply?
A: Continuing UC Santa Barbara students apply each year in early January for the following academic year (results available in early February). New graduate students apply each year between March 28 and May 15. New graduate students applying on-time are guaranteed housing (results are available by mid-June).

Q: Are pets allowed?
A: No, with the exception of fish in a container not exceeding 30 gallons.

Q: What should I bring?
A: The following are items residents often bring that are not included in the apartments: television, dishes, kitchen utensils, trash can, sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, desk lamp. You may want to coordinate with your future suite mates.

Q: When will I know my assignment?
A: Apartment and roommate assignments are generally emailed by the end of August each year to students umail accounts.

Q: Are gender inclusive housing options available?
A: Yes, gender inclusive housing options are available for students that are transgender, transsexual, intersex, and other diverse gender identities and expressions.

Q: Are graduate students assigned to the same apartments as undergraduate students?
A: It is possible if the graduate student residents of any apartment specifically request and/or agree to live with undergraduates. Otherwise, graduate and undergraduate students are not assigned to the same apartment.
