I flew to Pakistan for Quetta Chai 🇵🇰

I'm back in Pakistan after nearly 2 years having not been back here. Last time I came to Pakistan I flew into Karachi, but the flight was awful, arriving at 2am and taking another 2 hours to get through immigration.

This time I thought I'd try my luck and fly into Pakistan's capital of Islamabad, as it's much calmer than the other cities.

I made it through immigration by around 10pm which is pretty early compared to my previous trip.

Normally after arriving in a country I try to get cash out from the ATM as soon as possible, but Pakistan is weird in that foreign cards only were at a few very specific ATM's, none of which are at the airport, so I was cashless upon arrival as it's difficult to get Pakistani Rupees abroad since it's not a popular currency.

Right as I left the ATM area I was approached by this friendly taxi driver Faheem who offered to take me to my hotel for 5000 PKR, which is nearly double what I've paid in the past for a taxi in Islamabad.

Inflation in Pakistan is pretty crazy at the moment so it's understandable that the price has gone up. I still think I got a bit overcharged, but when you're stranded at 10pm without any cash at the airport, you don't have much to bargain with.

Faheem took me for my favorite drink of Quetta chai, before then taking me to an ATM and onward to my hotel.
