Today we walked down to El Paraíso Park where the Rio Tomebamba and Rio Yanuncay meet. Walking along the rivers is one of our favorite activities in Cuenca, it's peaceful, and a chance to escape some of the buzz and noise of living in a city. Some of that buzz and noise is sometimes church bells, and in this video I capture some of the sounds of bells around us. In our airbnb, we were "lucky" enough to routinely hear the bells from 3 nearby churches. We love the walkability, the culture, the food, and the excitement and challenge of living in Cuenca, Ecuador. And the the cost of living in Ecuador is great, too. But life in South America, as with most travels, will be easier if you leave your expectations at home and travel with an open mind.
