मोरबी जिले के माटेल गांव में स्थित खोडियार माता का मंदिर गुजरात की आस्था, इतिहास और चमत्कारों का दिव्य संगम है. लगभग 1100 वर्ष पुराना यह धाम खोडियार माता के प्राकट्य, वरदानों और चमत्कारों की कई अद्भुत कथाओं से जुड़ा है. मान्यता है कि माता का वाहन मगरमच्छ है, क्योंकि अमृत कुम्भ लाने वाली जानबाई माता घायल होकर इसी वाहन पर बैठकर मानव लोक लौटी थीं. इस मंदिर का पानी, जिसे माटेल धरा कहा जाता है, कभी सूखता नहीं और श्रद्धालु इसे पवित्र मानकर अपने साथ ले जाते हैं.

माटेल धरा, भंजिया धरा, स्वर्ण शिखर, और माता की सात बहनों के साथ विराजमान रूप इस मंदिर की महानता को और विशिष्ट बनाते हैं. यहाँ दर्शन के लिए लाखों श्रद्धालु गुजरात, राजस्थान और महाराष्ट्र से भी आते हैं. मंगलवार, रविवार और खोडियार जयंती पर भक्तों की भारी भीड़ उमड़ती है. मंदिर परिसर में भोजन की अन्नक्षेत्र व्यवस्था और आवास की सुविधा भी उपलब्ध है, साथ ही एक गौशाला भी संचालित होती है.

मातेल पहुँचकर दर्शन करने वालों का विश्वास है कि खोडियार माता भक्तों की हर मनोकामना पूर्ण करती हैं. यह मंदिर आज भी लोक आस्था का जीवंत केंद्र और अद्भुत अध्यात्म का प्रतीक बना हुआ है.

The Khodiyar Mata Temple of Matel, located in the Morbi district of Gujarat, is one of the most revered and ancient sacred sites in Western India. With a history of nearly 1100 years, this divine temple stands as a symbol of unwavering faith, miracles, and centuries-old traditions. The legend of Khodiyar Mata tells of her appearance in the home of Mamadiya Gadhvi and the miraculous revival of her brother Merakhiya with the Amrit Kalash brought from the Netherworld. Since then, Khodiyar Mata is worshipped as the divine protector, and her crocodile mount is considered a manifestation of her grace.

The Matel Dhara, a sacred water spring near the temple, flows endlessly throughout the year, and devotees believe it to be connected to the very spot where Khodiyar Mata descended from the underworld. Pilgrims from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra visit the temple in large numbers, especially on Tuesdays, Sundays, and Khodiyar Jayanti. The temple complex offers accommodation, daily meals through its annakshetra, and even maintains a large cowshed dedicated to cow protection.

Visiting this divine shrine is believed to fulfill wishes, remove obstacles, and bring blessings of health, prosperity, and protection. Matel truly stands as a living testament to faith and spirituality.
