NCIS Season 19 Renewed for Late 2021: Mark Harmon Returns to Lead the Main Cast

Hey, guys! Great news for the longest-running CBS series, as NCIS Season 19 is officially renewed! The renewal comes six weeks before the currently airing Season 18 ends on television on May 25. Due to the pandemic, the current season premiered later than usual, and the episode count had to be cut from 22 to 16. However, thanks to the huge pool of loyal fans, NCIS still delivers impressively high viewership numbers, which continue securing more seasons for the veteran series that came out in 2003. Moreover, in current Season 18, NCIS continues to average more than 10 million total viewers per episode, a number that seems incredible for a TV show that’s been around for 18 years. As of 2021, NCIS is the SECOND longest-running scripted show currently on air, following NBC series Law & Order: SVU, which is now in its 22nd season. Overall, in US television history, NCIS currently ranks as the seventh longest-running show. For nearly two decades, NCIS has been a critics’ darling, banking 27 award wins and 40 nominations, including 3 from Primetime Emmys. It’s scored highly by viewers as well, at 7.7 out of 10 on IMDb. Mark Harmon will again lead the cast in Season 19 as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He’ll be joined by David McCallum, Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll and many more familiar faces.
