The narcissist's behavior before the discard phase is often characterized by a subtle yet strategic series of actions aimed at achieving their self-serving goals. During this prelude to discard, the narcissist may intensify their manipulative tactics, gradually eroding the emotional bonds in the relationship. Initially charming and charismatic, the narcissist may engage in love bombing, showering their partner with excessive affection and attention to create a powerful emotional connection. As the relationship progresses, however, the narcissist may gradually withdraw support and empathy, displaying an increasing sense of entitlement and self-absorption. This shift is often accompanied by devaluation, wherein the narcissist criticizes, belittles, or undermines their partner's self-esteem. These calculated behaviors lay the groundwork for the eventual discard, wherein the narcissist abruptly ends the relationship, often leaving their partner bewildered, hurt, and questioning their own worth. The pre-discard phase showcases the narcissist's ability to exploit emotional vulnerabilities and manipulate those around them to serve their own needs
