Nah, if I know him as well as most of you, CROWNED's more of a tuner/exotic chap...well...at least I think he is...

The Mercury Cougar XR7 GT has been in racing games since Gran Turismo 2, but Payback is the first to let us fully customize the car in it's righteous V8, rear wheel drive form, not the fake tuner, front wheel drive thing. However, in comparison to the other LV299 cars I've driven, this one's sort of in the middle with an equal amount of faults and advantages. First off, the Cougar's nitrous power and acceleration are in between average and below average. From a standstill, it can get to 140 MPH before you run out of nitrous, unlike the S2000, which can do 160+ before depleting it's nitrous. Also, the drift angle is semi-limited, unlike the S2000, thus making it a tad difficult to drift round those hairpin turns in a clean manor. As for advantages, it's cornering speed is just as good as the S2000's, which means you can drift round without losing too much speed. It also has responsive brake drift which mends a bit of the limited drift angle by giving you control of how you enter the corner. As a whole though, the Cougar is a fairly balanced ride, leaning toward the below average side. It's not extravagant or wild like the LV399 Mustang or even the Boss Stang we drove earlier, which is odd because most of the underpinnings of this car in real life is based off the Mustang.
