Saudi Arabia has signed a new defence agreement with Pakistan, similar to NATO. Under this deal, if one country is attacked, it will be treated as an attack on both. This means that if India were to attack Pakistan again, Saudi Arabia would be obliged to support Pakistan militarily.

When asked directly if Saudi Arabia would step in during an India-Pakistan conflict, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed, “Yes, absolutely. There’s no doubt about it.” His statement has sparked debate about regional security and its impact on India.

However, many experts believe the agreement is not primarily about India. Instead, it is aimed at Israel. After Israel’s attack on Qatar, several Middle-Eastern countries have started feeling unsafe and are now considering such defence pacts for protection. Reports also suggest that more Islamic nations may soon join this alliance.

The deal also raises serious concerns because Khawaja Asif mentioned that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons would be made available to Saudi Arabia if required. This has drawn international attention, as it could shift the balance of power in the region.

India has officially responded to the development. Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated that India was already aware of the agreement and is carefully studying its impact on national and global security. He reassured citizens that the government remains committed to protecting India’s interests.

The big question now is whether India will continue Operation Sindoor in light of this new pact.
