Post-partum, foul smelling vaginal discharge. Definitely you have to go back to the gynecologist who has delivered youbecause you have to rule out any local infection ,pelvic infection, lochia getting infected. Infection postpartum has to be treated correctly. So a gynecologist will rule out any infection.in case of any pus discharge or anything, the vaginal swab can be taken to find out what is the infection and the pus culture can be sent. So any foul smelling lochia Postpartum, has to be seen by a gynecologist. So it can be an endometriosis or a local vaginal infection or a pelvic infection. So definitely it has to be seen and treated with antibiotics and other medicines. One more important thing when you are looking at post-partum, infection is the risk of DVT or CVT Cerebro Venous thrombosis. So definitely has to be looked into and treatment given. So when you have a foul smelling vaginal discharge post-partum, then go to your gynecologist.
