Judges are still looking for clerks as cases still need to be decided. Be creative and apply for clerkships despite the current challenging environment. You won't regret the experience you have! Some lawyers get clerkships (including Supreme Court clerkships) after working as a lawyer for several years!

Hone your legal and research writing skills to a point like they are no other. These skills are transferrable to many professions both in and outside of the legal community.

Does it matter where you go to law school?

Some of the tips include:

1. Developing organic relationships with professors, judges (state and federal), prosecutors, defense counsel, law clerks, secretaries

2. Getting strong recommendation letters

3. Having a good personality

4. Doing your homework/plan early

5. Being an excellent writer (research and writing)

6. Choosing selective internship and volunteer opportunities
