Fishing for the Shorthead Redhorse Sucker. This very common sucker native to several watersheds in the midwest, east coast, great lakes, and Mississippi River watershed. It is a really pretty fish with a bright red tail and a smaller head and mouth. This sucker is number 11 in the series that I'll probably be working on until the day that I die. The Shorthead Redhorse Sucker - Scientific Name: Salvelinus fontinalis The goal is to catch 1000 different fish species, and today I am chasing a fish that is more commonly found in the Wisconsin River. They can be caught with a worm on the bottom pretty easily if you can get your bait in some current where there is a sandy or gravel bottom in a river.
