The most talked about passes in Northern England include Hardnott, Winlatter, Honister, Kirkstone, Buttertubs - all of which deserve a trip on their own but for pure riding & driving pleasure, none can compare with Hartside pass near Alston

Whilst the hill top cafe no longer exists, it remains a popular meeting spot for all road enthusiasts ... and for a very good reason. You will enjoy either side of the pass and in any direction but uphill tends to be my personal favourite.
