In this video, you will learn about:
The history and community of boat dwellers in Richardson Bay
Government actions to confiscate and destroy boats
The impact on residents who have called these boats home for years
The legal and social battles surrounding this issue

The Richardson Bay Regional Agency and others have labeled boats as derelict and marine debris before seizing them and crushing them with an excavator. The result of these actions has left many people homeless.

Where there were once over 200 boats now sits about 60. the remaining anchorouts are fearful that their boats will be seized but are adamant that they will not leave the bay.

As if destroying people's floating homes isn't bad enough, some anchorouts have questions about the Richardson Bay Regional Agency's authority to regulate the bay.

Richardson Bay is a "Special Anchorage Area" under federal regulations. Some of the RBRA's and others' regulations contradict the federal rules.
