Why You May Want to Paint Designs on Your Beehive ! - Reducing Drifting

We have all seen pics of beautifully painted beehives. But, painting designs on beehives can provide more than just beauty.

Colorful symbols painted on beehives may reduce drifting in your bee yard.

Honey bees have a pretty good GPS system but they do better with larger margins. Having many colonies side by side can cause some foragers to "drift" to another colony.

The new colony usually accepts the "gift bringing" forager who arrives with nectar or pollen. But you may have some colonies grow too large and others too small.

Have some fun and paint some colorful designs on your hives. Or if you cant paint well, use your Cameo like I do LOL
