Landslides triggered by heavy rainfall struck India's Himalayan state of Uttarakhand on Wednesday (August 6), a day after sudden flooding killed at least four people and left dozens missing, according to an official.Huge boulders were left on badly damaged roads at Bhatwari village in Uttarkashi district, about 49 km (30 miles) south of Dharali village, a popular tourist destination which was also hit by flash floods.Rescue and security personnel were seen assessing the damage and operating machinery to clear debris from the affected roads.Uttarakhand is vulnerable to floods and landslides, which some experts attribute to the effects of climate change.
