The Evidence-Based Neurorehabilitation - A 2021 Perspective Webinar was held on Wed, 21 Jul 2021.

Webinar 1 in this series reviews the evidence for neurorehabilitation with a particular focus on the impact of COVID19 on delivering evidence-based practice. We critically evaluate current strategies and techniques used in neurorehabilitation in relation to the neuroscience evidence and principles of neuroplasticity. Future directions in neurorehabilitation practice and research are explored. Participants have ample opportunity to ask questions throughout the webinar.

3. Explore emerging evidence shaping rehabilitation.

MEET THE SPEAKER:
DR MARLENA KLAIC

• Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Melbourne

Marlena Klaic is an occupational therapist and researcher at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She has more than 20 years of clinical experience working within the neurosciences field in all contexts including acute hospital, rehabilitation and home-based services.

In the last 10 years, Marlena has focused on health services research with a particular interest in the use of technology. She was a member of the team who established the first publicly funded technology driven upper limb rehabilitation service. Marlena prospectively identified barriers and enablers to the use of technology in clinical practice and developed a tailored approach to the training, resources and implementation of the clinic, which continues to function six years later.

Marlena is also a postdoctoral research fellow in implementation science. Her research focuses on assisting individuals, teams and organisations to develop innovations and interventions that can sustainably be used to address evidence-practice gaps.
