I work as a family doctor in London and in this video, we go through some of the common Ozempic and Wegovy weight loss myths circulating online. I will use evidence to answer some of your burning questions.

1) Can Ozempic / Wegovy cause thyroid cancer?

Some rodent studies have in the past shown a link between thyroid cancer and semaglutice in ozempic and wegoy. More recently this french study found that people using GLP-1 receptor agonists for one to three years may have an increased risk of all types of thyroid cancers.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is currently investigating a link between these two as we speak.

2) Do you need to take Ozempic / Wegovy forever?
Wegovy and Ozempic are long-term weight loss treatments, but generally speaking, you won’t be taking them for life.

3) Is it easy to lose weight with ozempic / wegovy? Can you lose weight with no effort on ozempic?
As the drugs work reducing your appetite and not reducing fat on your body, you still need to get a healthy level of exercise and eat a healthy diet. Ozempic and Wegovy will help you to stick to a low-calorie diet as it reduces your appetite, helping to decrease cravings and giving you a feeling of fullness for longer.

4) Is Ozempic and Wegovy only for diabetics?
OZEMPIC is the name of the medication Semaglutide which has been used solely by diabetics to help lower their blood sugar with the plus of beneficial weight loss. WEGOVY has had the go-ahead to be used for overweight adults but is still the same drug.

5) What are the side effects of Ozempic and Wegovy? Does it make you feel terrible?
The most common side effects are NAUSEA and VOMITING, but it doesn’t mean that you will have them. It is good to remember that all medicines come with a possible side effect list. In the case of Wegovy, the possible and most commons side effects are: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdomen) pain, headache, tiredness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, gas, stomach flu, heartburn, and runny nose or sore throat.

6) Do you gain weight after stop taking ozempic/wegovy?
When you stop semaglutide, your appetite and levels of fullness are likely to return. So, if you want to avoid possible weight regain, frequent exercise and a healthy diet are a must.

7) Can anyone use ozempic and wegovy?
Wegovy/ is only recommended for people with a (BMI) of 30 or higher or for those with a BMI of 27 or higher who also have weight-related health conditions such as high BP, choelsterol or prediabetes/diabetes.

8) Do you feel hungry with ozempic and wegovy?
Mmm… As I just mentioned, Wegovy makes you feel fuller for longer. So, if you compared your eating habits before Wegovy, it can feel like you’re not hungry at all – big cravings or trigger favourites will decrease, but it isn’t true that you won't want to eat.

9) What is ozempic and wegovy face? Can anyone get it?
People taking Ozempic have reported these Unusual symptoms:
A hollowed-out appearance on their face
More wrinkles and lines across, making them look older
Loose and saggy skin

The quicker u lose the weight the more pronounced it can look.
