I really like this microplane-style zester/grater. It provides a ton more control over a traditional cheese grater and although the cutting blades are sharp, I feel safer using it, especially when paired with cut proof gloves. The zester comes with a blade cover for safe storage for both the blade and your other utensils in the drawer. The handle is 4.5” long and the stainless steel blade is 8". The tool weighs about 3 oz. The handle is coated in a soft-touch rubber and provides good nonslip grip for both left or right handed users. You can slide the blade along what you are grating or rest the grater on top of a mixing bowl and slide the food to be grated back and forth over the blade. The channel in the back collects your zest and you can safely tap it out or wipe out the grated material with your finger since it is flat in this channel. The unit cleans up fast and comes with a cleaning brush to make it even easier. Make sure when scrubbing the blade side to only go with the grain of the blade, not against it. This tool is also dishwasher safe. I find it to be pretty versatile since it can grate aromatics like garlic and ginger, hard spices like nutmeg and cinnamon sticks, cheese, and citrus peels for zest.
