Little did we know, it would be the last day that we would play together...

One year ago, on March 13th, our North Hills Wind Ensemble students came to school on their day off to perform for each other. The day before, we had returned from Ohio, never quite making it to Indianapolis, where the group was to perform on the featured stage of the Music for All National Concert Band Festival. Little did we know, it would be the last day that we would play together.

The day after learning that they would not be able to perform the concert that they had worked towards for the last 8 months, these students chose to come to school and perform for each other, in an otherwise empty auditorium. Every one of them was there. Little did we know, it would be the last day that we would play together.

We were blessed that our dear friend Al Teare came out to be with us on a moment’s notice to record. We were blessed that our dear friend Jason Worzbyt was there to inspire our students as we spent the afternoon playing music together. This is that recording. For those students – for those seniors – this is the first time that they are hearing this performance. Little did we know, it would be the last day that we would play together.

Thank you, band – past, present, and future – for making the North Hills Band a truly special place to be.

To the band of 2019-2020 “All In,” we remain gratefully in your debt. We hope you enjoy the music.
