New C-Class AMG with electric turbo and hybrid tech! Mercedes-AMG C43 2022 review (inc 0-100)

Mercedes and AMG have long made fire-breathing performance cars. So what happened?

Take the new Mercedes-AMG C 43 2022 model, for example. It might have 300kW and 500Nm, but it also has a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 48-volt hybrid tech. So it's hardly going to ignite the senses like you might expect an AMG-badged C-Class would, right?

Well, Tom White has just driven the new-generation Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan in Europe, and he thinks it could be all the better for the move away from a six-cylinder engine. Power, poise and presence abound in this new-gen W206, and it has plenty of high-tech gadgets included.

It'll be here in 2023, but this review should give you as much info as you need to decide whether you should put your order in on one of these, or opt for a rival like the Audi RS4, BMW M340i, Genesis G70 3.3T Sport, or Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
