This is my first working attempt at a 3d printed duck call.

This call is all 3d Printed except the reed material which is from an echo replacement reed kit. You can also make a reed for this call using 10 mil mylar. You can find 10 mil mylar at your local hobby store, it is generally listed as quilt template material but will also work as reed material.

Be sure to smooth out the face of the soundboard where the reed will rest this helps the sound tremendously. I do this with a quick hit of 100 grit sand paper. If you want to make even more crisp transfer of sound you can make it even smoother by stepping up the sand paper grit until you are satisfied with the result. Generally I just go to 100 grit and it seems to work just fine.

I printed the call on my Anet A8 at 0.08 mm LH only because it reduces the amount of sanding required later, the smaller the layer lines the easier it is to get nice and smooth. The overall design was done with fusion 360. I printed in PLA but I have plans to check the tone differences between PLA, ABS and PETG to see if there is any significant differences in sound. So far I have printed at 10% infill and at 100% with no discern-able difference in sound. I wouldn't go less than 3 outer perimeters if you are going to print it less than 100% infill.

I print everything standing up with the small cutout for the wedge at the top (as it would be in the call).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Need good music in your videos? I use epidemic sound, it may work for you, the link below helps me out by giving me a free month if you do sign up for it. I don't make any money but it does help reduce the cost of running the channel. https://www.epidemicsound.com/referra...
