In Graphic Detail: revealing the secret flight of storks | Events

Описание к видео In Graphic Detail: revealing the secret flight of storks | Events

On a clear day in late summer, a flock of 10 storks takes flight chasing warm weather southward. Their origin is Germany, their destination is Africa, and what happens to them on the 10,000 kilometres in between has — until very recently — never been known. On October 12, World Migratory Bird Day, we tell their story.

"A Stork’s Story" is a graphic novel by producer Benjamin Dix from PositiveNegatives and comic creator Karrie Fransman that brings to life the latest scientific breakthroughs about migration in one of the world’s most iconic birds. But just as storks cross boundaries of countries and continents, this genre-defying medium transcends boundaries of storytelling by writing, not with words, but with animated illustrations that endlessly unfold to reveal the tale of life and death in a long-range migrant.

Join Benjamin Dix and scientists from the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and the University of Konstanz for an intercontinental journey into the power of visual storytelling.

With presentations by Benjamin Dix, Andrea Flack, Wolfgang Fiedler, Martin Wikelski and scientists from the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and the University of Konstanz, plus:

Short film screening
Lectures by world-leading stork scientists
Interactive demonstrations of cutting edge science
