Since June last year, officers from Gungahlin General Duties have investigated the sale and distribution of cannabis and vapes in the Gungahlin district.

Yesterday, a 24-year-old Vietnamese national was arrested and charged with drug and vape trafficking after he was observed by police conducting multiple exchanges of goods from a vehicle. Many of these exchanges occurring with teenagers in school uniforms.

Search warrants were conducted on the vehicle the man was arrested in as well as a house in Franklin. Items seized from the vehicle and house include more than 650 vapes, $975 in cash, approximately 68 grams of cannabis and 500 grams of dried cannabis, hydroponic growing equipment, nine cannabis plants, approximately 800 ‘gummy lollies’ in the shape of bears or cannabis leaf and molds of a similar shape.

Police believe the 24-year-old is responsible for a significant volume of illegal vape and cannabis distribution in the ACT with analysis of bank statements across a recent three-day period showing deposits totaling almost $6500.
