Try these two nutritious drinks Badam Ka Hareera or Almond Drink and Namak Ka Hareera this season. Badam Ka Hareera or Almond Drink removes weakness and Namak Ka Hareera/Drink made of only wheat flour, is a home remedy given to patients suffering from cold, sore throat or chest or lung congestion.

Almond Drink/Badam Ka Hareera:

Ingredients: for 2 persons

Almonds/Badam- 25 grms
Clarified Butter/Pure Ghee- 1 1/2 tbsp
Wheat Flour/Gehun Ka Aata - 1/4th cup or 4 tbsp
Milk/Doodh - 1/2 litre
Sugar/Shakar - 3-4 tbsp (as per the taste)
Saffron Sticks/Zafran ki kadiyan - few

Procedure:

1. Boil almonds to facilitate the peeling of its skin.
2. Allow its water to cool and then peel the almonds.
3. Grind or crush the almonds into a paste.
4. Add clarified butter or pure ghee to a pan. Do not use dalda ghee or clarified butter or shortening made form hydrogenated oils.
5. Add wheat flour.
6. Stir fry continuously to prevent burning.
7. When the raw smell of wheat flour goes off, and when its turns light brown, add boiled and cooled milk while stirring continuously to prevent formation of lumps.
8. Add the almonds paste.
9. Mix well.
10. Add sugar and few saffron sticks.
11. Cook while stirring continuously and when it attains a thick consistency, switch off the flame.
12. Take out in a bowl, garnish with few saffron sticks and serve hot.
13. This drink is very nutritious and removes weakness.

Namak Ka Hareera/Drink made of only wheat flour

Ingredients:

Clarified Butter/Pure Ghee - 1 1/2 tbsp
Wheat Flour/Gehun Ka Aata - 5 tbsp
Salt/Namak or Sugar/Shakar - 1/2 tsp Salt or 3-4 tbsp Sugar
Water - 1/2 litre

Procedure:

1. Add clarified butter or pure ghee to a pan. Do not use dalda ghee, it will worsen sore throat problem.
2. Add wheat flour and stir continuously. (Here we are not going to add the almond paste and only wheat flour will add to the consistency. Therefore, take 5 tbsps wheat flour instead of 4 tbsp used in the previous recipe).
3. Saute till light brown and till the raw smell of wheat goes off.
4. Add water while stirring continuously to prevent formation of lumps.
5. Either add 1/2 tsp salt or 3-4 tbsp sugar as per your taste.
6. Cook till it attains a thick consistency.
7. Switch off the flame, take out in a bowl and serve hot.
8. This drink is a home remedy given to patients suffering from cold, sore throat or chest or lung congestion.
