Germany: Mysterious walk in Sächsische Schweiz National Park

The sandstone cliffs of Sächsische Schweiz National Park have been eroded into fantastic shapes, forming a labyrinth of stone amid deep green forests. This is the Bastei (bastion), a series of stony fingers reaching skyward. The Bastei is a great natural curiosity of weather-crafted sandstone cliffs, crags, and pillars towering above the curve of the Elbe River far below. Deep canyons fall away from plateau mountaintops; moors and plateaus are surrounded by primeval forests; and everywhere ferns, mosses, and lichens cling to rocky surfaces.
The walking tour goes to the Bastei Brücke, an amazing sandstone bridge between rocks.
