Game: Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) : Komplete Edition
System: PC

Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and 'Tag Ladder' playthrough of Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) : Komplete Edition.

At the time this game was released, Australia did not have an 'R18+' category rating for video games. As a result, Mortal Kombat 9 was refused classification and hence banned due to it's graphic violence.
The ban was subsequently lifted once an 'R18+' category rating for video games was established. But this experience left me in a sour state.

Effectively a re-boot of the original three classic Mortal Kombat games (MK1-3); Mortal Kombat 9 introduced a completely new fighting engine. Most notable was the addition of a 'Super Meter' (akin to the 'Street Fighter' games), which once charged fully, enabled the player to execute the most devastating attack, the 'X-Ray Move'.

Undeniably this game was a huge success, but I personally found it difficult to appreciate; due to it being initially banned here in Australia upon release, combined with the fact that the game had changed drastically compared to previous Mortal Kombat games. I was thus left feeling disenchanted and disappointed with it.

Looking back though, I just wasn't ready to accept this change in the series. And only now (four years since it was released), have I really begun to appreciate this game fully. I can honestly say that I am now in love with this game and the new fighting engine it brings with it.
This is a deep, technical, gory and gorgeous-looking fighting game that should not be missed, especially by MK fans!

Enjoy!
