Distillata has been in the same location for over a century. We work in the building where the horses and buggies used to be. They rolled out these same doors every morning to make water deliveries to Cleveland. Distillata opened in 1897, and George Miller purchased the business in 1950.

Mr. Miller revolutionized the use of distilled water, giving Cleveland access to a pure water source. 1966 Mr. Miller passed away, and Distillata continued on to the next generation.

“Our dad made us work hard. I remember unloading glass bottles from old rail cars all day. There was no choice. Our community needed safe water to drink. He also taught us how important relationships are. It’s how we survived two world wars and the Great Depression. We saw the river burn and the lake die. And now, our biggest challenge yet, the COVID-19 pandemic.” ~ Keith Schroeder, President

Cleveland has a story of building things. Supplied the steel that helped win those wars. And we are now a green city on a blue lake. It’s that spirit that inspired us to continue to produce the best quality product we can. You never know who you’re going to meet; we get to visit customers in their homes, where their lives happen, and we get to be a small part of it.

In 2014, George Miller’s great-grandchildren joined the company.
