YOB beats intestinal disease, ex-Bell Witch drummer howls on 'Mirror Reaper' I Aggressive Tendencies

YOB's Mike Scheidt and Bell Witch's Dylan Desmond discuss the spectre of death that haunted both of their new releases: 'Our Raw Heart' and 'Mirror Reaper,' respectively. YOB's brush involved Mike's struggles with an intestinal disease (acute diverticulitis), which placed him in the hospital and could have killed him if he'd delayed heading to the E.R. Bell Witch dealt with the passing of former drummer Adrian Guerra, at which point Dylan and replacement skins man Jesse Shreibman were unsure whether or how to continue. In the end, they kept going and included unused vocals that Adrian had recorded for 'Four Phantoms' in the middle of their new album. Interview conducted July 4 outside of Toronto's Mod Club, while the bands were on tour together.
