(27 Sep 2017) FISHER AND REYNOLDS' ITEMS UP FOR SALE IN OCTOBER
Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds' personal effects are hitting the auction block once again.
The Profiles in History auction house will sell more than 1,400 items that belonged to the two actresses, who died in December. Most of the items were part of Reynold's impressive Hollywood memorabilia collection.
"This is a very special sale because it's both mother and daughter. You have Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds and this is in items from their estate, their respective estates. And so we're super excited about this because, you know, not only are these items that celebrate aspects of their careers that are very illustrious, but also they reflect a little bit about the personality behind them. Some of them are little keepsakes that tells you something about each one and each one and what makes them tick and what their tastes are," said Brian Chanes of Profiles in History.
Among the items set to be sold are an outfit worn by Fisher on "Good Morning America" and a Dior gown she wore to the Cannes Film Festival. But Chanes expects Audrey Hepburn's floral embroidered "Sabrina" dress to fetch one of the biggest price tags.
"When it comes to dresses or wardrobe, I mean the piece that's behind me is one of the ultimate pieces frankly - both in a fashion point of view and also female wardrobe. It's the Givenchy/Edith Head. I'm using that with a forward slash because Givenchy designed it, but Edith Head got the credit for it for 'Sabrina,' 1954. And it was worn by the illustrious Audrey Hepburn in that film. And so we have it at 80 to 120,000 (dollars), but that is a mere fraction of what we think it's really going to sell for," Chanes said.
There's plenty for "Star Wars" fans too, including Fisher's director's chair and autographed posters and scripts.
"The best in my opinion that we have of 'Star Wars' is Carrie Fisher's personal, annotated script from 'The Empire Strikes Back.' It has well over 1000 handwritten notes of subtext to provide, you know, drive to the character, how she was going to spill the words to the fellow actors. So it really gets into the mind of the actress and behind the Princess Leia character. And literally every page with Leia dialogue has copious notes of how she was going to deliver it," Chanes said.
The auction also includes a Korean War era Jeep featured in the "MASH" film and Reynold's personal touring van.
Bidding kicks off online or in person on October 7, 8 and 9.
