One of the initiatives that Boontuck Wungcharoen said they will start this year is the code of conduct whereby they would create the board for the code conduct for all the Thai banks to really follow. This would allow them to be a self-regulated.

FATCA is a regulation that’s being imposed on from the outside. "We don’t have any choice. We have to comply" he says. He adds, "For FATCA I think just complying is enough because it’s one country’s interest. But the code of conduct that we want to really focus on is - when we serve customers, we serve them correctly. We don’t do miss-selling when we sell the financial product either to the retail investor or the derivative to the corporate customers. It must be something that really benefits them, and fits their need."
