MDCAT Re-Conduct Confirm Date | Govt Laptop Scheme | Winter Vacations | Board's Passing Marks Policy

Sukkur IBA University has announced the confirm date for MDCAT reconduct in Sindh. MDCAT Retake would be conducted on Sunday, 08 December 2024. The official press release has been issued by SIBA Testing Services which states that the roll number slips would be issued soon. Similarly, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) Islamabad will also conduct MDCAT on Sunday, 8 December 2024. In an official meeting, the final test date has been decided. The official notification will be issued by SZABMU very soon. Both MDCAT Reconduct test dates are same in Islamabad and Sindh.
Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has ordered the distribution of laptops among University students within 90 days. The students enrolled in Universities, Colleges, Medical and Dental Institution will be eligible to apply for government laptop scheme 2024. Under the chief ministers laptop and merits scholarship program, students across Punjab will receive the latest Core i7, 13th generation laptops. 2000 minority students and top position holders of matriculation and intermediate exams will also receive the laptop. Under this initiative, 20,000 university students, 14,000 college students, 4,000 students from industry and agriculture sectors, and 2,000 medical and dental students will receive laptops. Of these, 32% of the recipients will be from Southern Punjab. Under the Chief Minister's Laptop Scheme, 5,000 laptops will be distributed within the next 30 days, and 35,000 laptops will be provided by February 20. Students from fields such as Computer Science, Medicine, Science, Engineering, Social Sciences, Business, Languages, Veterinary, and Agriculture will also receive laptops. Additionally, 30,000 students from public educational institutions and 10,000 from private institutions across Punjab will be awarded scholarships.
The winter vacations in Punjab are expected to begin from 21 December. The expected 2 weeks winter vacations will end on 1st January 2025. The government is also considering to end the Saturday holiday in schools to cover up the deficiency caused by smog vacations. The Punjab School Education Department is considering to eliminate the Saturday holiday in schools to compensate for the reduced academic calendar caused by smo-related holidays.
Inter Boards Coordination Committee (IBCC) has changed the passing marks and grace marks policy for matric and intermediate exams across the country. The passing marks have been increased from 33% to 40% and the students can get 5 Grace marks. The policy shall be implemented from 2025 on all boards of Pakistan. Earlier, 40% passing marks Policy was supposed to be implemented from 2024.
