In my Oklahoma Joe's Rider DLX 1200 review I go through what's new in the second generation of this pellet grill. The Rider DLX 1200 has had a couple of upgrades including easy access to the auger and big rubber-coated wheels that allow moving the grill with just one hand. Oklahoma Joe's Rider DLX 1200 Pellet Grill is a perfect entry-level pit for anyone who wants to grill and smoke. I’ve smoked chicken and ribs and did a reverse-sear on tri-tip, and this pit handles it all like a champ.

Oklahoma Joe's made searing a priority for this pit with one of the best sear zones I've seen. Located in the middle of the primary cooking space, the sear zone now has removable baffles to expose the fire pot.

With a total of 1,234 square inches of cooking space, you can be sure that the Rider DLX 1200 can handle whatever you need. Moreover, the pellet hopper is big enough for an overnight cook.

One of the notable upgrades is the PID controller that can read and react both with the fan and the auger. Oklahoma Joe's Rider DLX 1200 comes with 2 probes for easy temperature control. When you want to sear, just switch the controller’s fire focus to the temp probe right at the back of the sear zone.

Oklahoma Joe's Rider DLX 1200 pellet grill is running much better compared to the first generation. Everything I've cooked on it has been delicious with lots of smoky flavors. Even though this pit does run a little hotter than what you set it at, it's not an astronomical difference. The only inconvenience is that you have to dump your pellets after every single cook. But the added bonus is that changing flavors midstream is super easy.

Overall, this pit does a lot of things right. Even if you are a complete beginner, you're not going to have a lot of stress running the Rider DLX 1200.
