Hue is an ambitious young beautiful girl who always wants to get out of the curb of her old father because she is distressed to live in their old and cramped house.

She loves Vu, a young guy who likes to imitate the rich. Vu invites her to "promised land" by crossing the border. Hue and her 16-year-old younger sister recklessly follow him on that fateful ship.

The tragedy happens when Vu is killed, Hue and Ly are both raped. Two sisters are drifted to the coast of China, then Hue become the wife of a man who is both dumb and deaf while Ly gets totally insane.
