In the United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a delay to a number of key policies meant to tackle climate change.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the delays include pushing back a ban on selling new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 to 2035, a slow down on phasing out gas boilers and that homeowners will not be forced to improve insulation to improve energy efficiency.
The PM reasoned that the delays would help ease the "unacceptable costs" of energy transition for British households.
He also repeated his plans to expand oil and gas drilling in the North Sea.
The moves have been met with a backlash from some businesses that have invested in EV projects in the country, as well as from environmental groups.
Sunak said the UK is still committed to going net zero by 2050.
