What does the Kent coast have to offer?

We had no idea where we wanted to head, so the open road decided for us as we set off. Friends had recommended the Kent coast as it has lots of beautiful sandy beaches, plenty of park ups and scenery.

We started heading towards Camber and ended up in Dymchurch, we road the small skate park there, had dinner and paused while we looked on the Search for sites app for our stop over. A lovely little stop at Deal is where we spend the first night. With the beach on the doorstep, we enjoyed a peaceful night of listening to the waves.

The following day we went to Ramsgate, home of the Ramsgate tunnels. We loved exploring these and it was free up to a certain point. We walked along the harbour which is still a working harbour and watch as the fisherman cast off. We had ice creams, flew kites and ended the evening with a picnic on the sands of the beach. We stopped over and it cost £12 for the night. On the pay machines, there is a separate button for over night camping at Marine Esplanade. We were woken at midnight by some racers but they soon moved on.

The next day we stopped at RAF Manston and looked at the Hurricane and Spitfire museum, this is free but we left a donation and explored. Across the road is the RAF museum, this was £18 for us all and was well worth the money.

Then we headed to the historical town of Sandwich. Whilst there, we checked into the Sandwich Leisure Centre campsite so we could empty grey waste, top up water and have showers. It was £41 for the night, this gives you a good size private pitch, individual water and ehu as standard! The showers were clean and hot. The children's play area was good and closed at 9.30pm each night. The village had lots to offer and was surrounded by original building's dating back through the centuries. We stopped at the museum there and this was also free. There we got to look around the court house and the kids tried on some costumes as we learned of the history of Sandwich. We popped into the Sandwich Medieval Centre where you can watch the blacksmiths and his working forge. They are currently working on restoring a medieval ship!

The next day, we rested and full of new memories we headed home.
