I’m Amber Sharma aka Mowgli Baba, and in this episode, we are in the heart of Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi, Indonesia — exploring one of the most iconic cultural villages of the region: Kete Kesu.

Kete Kesu is not just a “tourist attraction”… it’s a living museum.
A village where tradition is not performed for the camera — it is lived every single day.

As soon as you enter Kete Kesu, you’ll feel something different. The atmosphere is quiet, mysterious, and deeply spiritual. Here you’ll witness the legendary Tongkonan houses, known for their boat-shaped roofs, detailed carvings, and powerful symbolism. Every carving has a story, every wooden wall has a meaning, and every corner feels like a chapter from ancient history.

📸 In this vlog, I’m walking through the village with my camera — capturing close details of the architecture, carvings, and the local lifestyle — and trying to understand the deeper meaning of Toraja culture.

But what makes Kete Kesu truly unforgettable is its connection to the Torajan belief system around life and death.

Here you’ll also see the famous Tau-Tau statues — wooden figures that represent the deceased. Along with that, we explore the sacred and world-famous hanging graves, where the dead are placed in cliffside burial sites, showing a completely different perspective of afterlife and respect for ancestors.
