Iddhi Pāda Vibhaṅga Sutta - "Exposition on the Four Bases for Spiritual Success (or Psychic Power) - SN 51.20 From the Samyutta Nikāya (Connected Discourses).

Here, in this week's Sutta Exploration Series, Bhante elaborated on the very important role that the Four Bases of Psychic Power (Spiritual Success), i.e. chanda/fervor, virya/persevering effort, citta/directed mind, and vīmamsā/examination, play when looked at through this key exposition (Vibhaṅga) discourse, where Lord Buddha methodically introduces them as a set of instructions of how to cultivate these important steps in our practice, in order to make our spiritual practice successful.

The Iddhi Pāda (4 Bases of Psychic Power - or 4 Bases for Spiritual Success) have to be looked at through both their worldly and supramundane aspects: where they can help the practitioner to
1) purify the mind progressively and reach higher states of meditative absorptions, as in the jhānas or even attaining certain psychic powers, as their name suggests often, or
2) it may be lokuttara in nature (supramundane) where they can be used to help the meditator reach Arahantship, by helping the person destroy the Āsavas (mental contaminants).
