Secret Den Chiefs Role in the Troop with New Scouts

This is a critical youth leadership position that is often overlooked. The Den Chief position is essential in many respects. They are the representation of the best of the troop. They are youth leaders who work with Den Leaders and interact with Cub Scouts. What many troop leaders mistakenly consider a minor youth position. They are a crucial part of the troop's long-range recruitment goals. Den chiefs encourage Cub Scouts to cross over to their Troop. When they arrive the Den Chief should become a Toop Guide for the new first-year patrol. The cycle of Den Chief to Troop Guide is something to consider when thinking long range.
