Understanding PTO | What is it? How does it work? What types are there?

PTOs, or power take-offs, have been staples on the backs of tractors for decades. Even before older machines had the three-point hitch, the stub shaft in the back allowed for power to be directed to an implement. There are 4 main drive mechanisms that provide power to the shaft.
