Knee Surgery: Advances in Knee Joint Replacement

Dr. Bell speaks to the advantages gained from the use of long-acting anesthetics that help patients do well post-operatively and require much less pain medication. He also covers a seemingly mundane advance – moving from “stapling” the skin closed to the use of Durabond tape and comments on how that helps patients do better with a side benefit of improved surgical scar appearance. Additional highlights of the video include an overview of how MRI technology is being used to examine the knee and make an exact custom-fit prosthesis for the patient’s knee.
