Welcome back to the "Gray Hair & Daycare" podcast! In this episode, older dads Frank (55) and Carlo (56) catch up after a busy summer and Frank celebrates Baby Josie turning 18 weeks (four months) old. The Gen X dads dive into their current challenges and triumphs in raising kids.
In the "Book Report," Frank shares baby advice from the out-of-print book, The Baby Sleep Solution , which promises to teach babies to sleep 12 hours a night by 12 weeks. While they modified the program to better fit their dad life , the structure has been a helpful fatherhood tip.
Next, the guys update the infamous "Diaper Diet", revealing a new set of parenting mistakes in their weight loss competition. Frank admits that although they got closer to the goal, they did so by going the wrong way, as both he and his wife gained weight during a chaotic period of fast food and no exercise. This segment offers honest fatherhood advice and a little humor in life.
Finally, they open the "Silver Fox Mailbox" and discuss Baby Josie's developmental milestones, including batting, grasping, and her incredible progress, proving she's ahead of the curve in vocalization and social engagement. Frank confesses his ultimate project for being a dad: designing and building a whimsical outdoor castle playhouse!

I always thought if it was a little boy, it would be fun to make like a pirate ship. Wouldn't it? But, and I would really love to do a tree house, but I have no trees that would accommodate that.

But yeah, that'll be the big project. Don't you think, you don't think pirate ships would be... For a little girl?

No. It could be. Then, I don't want her to be a pirate wench.

I don't want her to be a pirate. I don't know. I'm thinking it's going to be more a whimsical castle.

Something with a drawbridge or a moat. Something like that.

It might be big, but that's okay.

124th scale, or I'm going to need a permit.

A full castle.

I'm going to have to go to the town offices. It's going to be... No, no, it's not another house.

It's just a playhouse.

Yeah.

But it's 1,200 square... And I'm going to need alligators in the water. But it's 1,200 square feet and has a concrete foundation.

I'm going to apologize up front. Oh, God. Because there has been a lot happening with going back to work.

Life. Just life happening with a new baby. So I've been a little out of cycle.

We're recording late. We released our last episode late. It's not all on you.

No. I also have been busy and... This is what this man tries to do.

He tries to take it on when in reality it is absolutely on me. We're a team, brother. I appreciate that.

But no. We've been real busy. It's been all good.

And I'm very happy to announce, as always, I am Frank Sirio. I am 55 years old still for another couple months. And my little daughter, baby Josie, is exactly, as we record this, is exactly 18 weeks old.

Wow. She is four months old. We're getting ready to go head into next week into her four-month checkup.

Nice. Very excited for that. The time is flying by.
