The session on Powering the Future – Green Hydrogen & the Energy Transition at the #GoodAirSummit brought together industry leaders and clean energy advocates to explore how green hydrogen can reshape India’s energy landscape and accelerate progress toward a net-zero future.

The session, moderated by Kapil Bansal, Partner at EY India, emphasized the critical role of innovation, policy, and industrial-scale adoption in driving a cleaner, more sustainable energy transition.

Lt. Col. Monish Ahuja (Retd), Chairman & Managing Director of Punjab Renewable Energy Systems Private Limited (PRESPL), emphasized that energy independence can be achieved through bioenergy, calling it a sustainable path forward for India’s energy future.

Gaurav Verma, Branch Head at MN Dastur, stated that there are only two ways to reduce CO₂ — stop emitting it or start capturing it — highlighting the urgent need for emission control strategies.

Suyash Gupta, Founder Trustee and Director General of the Indian Auto LPG Coalition, stressed that the responsibility for change does not lie with consumers but with policymakers, who must build the right ecosystem to enable cleaner energy adoption.

Dr. Charusmita, Director at Statcon Energiaa, highlighted the need for industrial-scale preparedness, noting that while green hydrogen may involve initial losses for large-scale industries, it is ultimately more feasible and sustainable than solar.

Kapil Bansal, Partner at EY India and session moderator, warned that heatwaves are already impacting agriculture by 7%, posing a direct threat to future generations’ food security.

The session outlined the critical need for innovation, policy support, and large-scale collaboration in driving a sustainable energy transition through green hydrogen.
