New Saloma Bridge Now Links Petronas Towers with Kampung Baru

83 | For a long time tourists to Kuala Lumpur have had the Petronas Towers as a single must-see stop on their list. Other tourist spots in the city took second place to these iconic towers. Most of the popular tourist attractions in KL are in the same area of town and are easy to visit. But there are other interesting and, I think, more 'Malaysian' places to explore than big city attractions.

One of these is Kampung Baru, a small traditional Malay village within the much larger city of Kuala Lumpur. Visiting Kg. Baru has usually meant a separate trip by taxi or LRT because until now it was not convenient to go there. With the opening of the Saloma Link that has changed.

The Saloma link is a pedestrian bridge that links the area near the Petronas Towers or KLCC Park directly to Kampung Baru. A 400m walk with take you from the front door of the towers to the Kg. Baru LRT station. From there you can begin your exploration of the traditional village.

It's worth a visit.
