Undoing a stuck bathroom spout

the spout did not let me divert the water to the shower. I did not want to user excessive force to torque it as the copper piping seems a bit flimsy. I read from a Florida plumber to use a hair dryer to heat it. Instead I used a torch and it did the trick in no time.
