This DCG412 grinder had seen extensive use and showed signs of wear. Initially, it appeared the brushes were worn out. Upon opening the grinder, I confirmed the brushes were indeed worn out, and also discovered a severely overheated, brittle wire that had begun to break.

Lacking Dewalt replacement brushes, I improvised with a set intended for a Bosch GBH4DFE plug-in hammer machine. The legendary Doctor Lefthandthread spare parts came to the rescue again. These brushes were close enough to work, so I quickly soldered them in after removing the old ones.

Next, I repaired the bad wire connection and greased the spindle. After reassembling the grinder, full functionality was restored.
