Installing a 78-82 Corvette IGNITION SHIELD

Proper installation of the ignition (or distributor) shield on 1978-1982 Corvettes is challenging.

Things such as wiring harnesses and/or connectors, vacuum lines, and spark plug wires, to name a few, can keep the shield from proper installation.

Forcing the shield risks things from getting damaged or disconnected which only compounds the problem.

Fortunately, in most cases, you only need to clear the way for the shield legs to (somewhat) easily slide into place.

The shield serves two main purposes:

1. It reduces ignition interference to the radio.

2. It ensures the hood's latch-to-latch cable is properly routed.
