Mykines - Home of the Puffins

Описание к видео Mykines - Home of the Puffins

Mykines is a remote island belonging to the Faroe islands. It is home to about 500.000 Puffins and has one of the largest Puffin colonies. We show how the trip to Mykines by boat takes you along and through Drangarnir, the iconic rocks which are a trademark of the Faroe island. Mykines was home to about 200 people from which are only 8 left on the island. On the island you find a picturesque village and the puffins. We show video footage of the life of the puffins in Mykines. Their homes are burrows in which they feed their Pufflings. Nice portraits, puffins on take off which resembles "Cliff Diving", puffins on touch down - very cute birds which have their own personality. They live together with Arctic Jaeger, Arctic Fulmar, and other species of bird life.

How expensive is the trip to Mykines:

Roughly 90 € for the boat ride - cheaper is if you get a ferry ticket.

We used Blue Gate: https://bluegate.fo

Roughly 60 € hiking fee you have to pay before you get a guided tour through the puffin colony with two guides. Non-guided tours are not permitted - so you have to pay if you want to see the big colony. It's a steep but short hike. However, the puffins are already nesting in the harbor - the "Sky-Dive" shots were taken at the harbor cliff - the others at the colony.

Equipment used:
Nikon Z9 with the 5,6 AF-S-500 pf. Nikon Z6II with the 4,0 Z 24-120.
