It also allows an Indian citizen to cast their votes during elections.
The Election Commission of India issues to adults residing in India who have reached the age of 18, when they vote in local, state, and federal elections in their home nation.
You can simply keep it on your phone and present it when necessary if you don't have it physically with you.

Moreover, the Election Commission has started a service wherein you can download your voter id card on your mobile phone.

This is done with the help of e-EPIC which is the electronic version of the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) which was launched by the Government of India on 25 January 2021.

E-Epic can be downloaded in the PDF version on mobile or in the self-printable form on computer, which can be laminated to use as a hard copy.

Moreover, you need to keep your ID card in PDF form in order to store it in digital lockers like DigiLocker.

For Digital Voter ID, it is needed that your mobile phones are linked with your voter id cards. Hence, users will have to complete the KYC update of your digital lockers. You can download your voter id cards only after that.

1. A PDF version of the e-EPIC will be provided.
2. The first phase took place from January 25 to January 31, 2021.
3. During this time, the e-EPIC was provided only to new voters who successfully registered using their mobile numbers.
4. From February, every voter is eligible to download the digital copy. However, the mobile number must be linked to the ECI.
5. In addition to the PDF version, hard copies will also be provided to new voters.
6. The main objective for the launch of the digital voter ID is to make sure that there is no delay in providing the Voter ID.
7. e-EPIC can be kept in the Digi locker.

Procedure to Download the Digital Voter ID :
Follow these steps to download the digital voter ID :
Step 1: Visit https://eci.gov.in/e-epic/.
Step 2: Click Download e-EPIC option.
Step 3: Download e EPIC button is present on the top of the page.
Step 4: Punch in your login details.
Step 5: If you don't have an account, make one using your mobile phone.
Step 6: Tap on Download eEPIC.
Step 7: Punch in your 10 digit unique EPIC number.
Step 8: Details will be verified. Then your digital voter id card will be displayed.
Step 9: You will receive an OTP. Verify it.
Step 10: Download your digital id card in PDF form.

How to Complete Your KYC?
The following are the steps to complete the candidate’s e-KYC:
Login or register on National Voter’s Service Portal (NVSP)
Click on ‘Download e-EPIC'

Click on KYC link to complete the KYC process
Complete the face liveliness verification by turning on the camera of the device (mobile, TAB, laptop, or desktop)
Finally, update the mobile number to complete the e-KYC process
The registration process must be completed in order to download the e-EPIC. You can visit website https://nvsp.in/Account/Register and enter basic details such as the mobile number, EPIC number, email ID, and password to complete the registration process.
