Three Otters On The Same Frame, Otter-Messer 161, 162, &164

aToday we take a look at the Otter Messer 161, 162, and 164. All are great traditional pocket knives by Otter Messer and all are on the same frame.

Here are three great offerings from Otter Messer. All are on the same frame but will have different cover materials and finishes.

The 161 has sapelli wood covers and a stainless 1.403 blade. The all steel construction really makes this knife feel like a solid heavy duty knife. The fit and finish is good and the walk and talk are excellent on this knife.
missing from the 161 however is the double ground bolster that is featured on the 162 and the 164 from Otter Messer. The Otter Messer 161 cost at the moment 56 Euro on www.otter-messer.de .

The 162 Or Three rivet knife is in the middle of the spectrum, coming in at 65 Euro. The 162 is available in African Black wood as well as smoked oak covers. It features an all steel construction, c75 carbon steel blade, double ground bolsters and the iconic 3 rivets on the mark side cover. Overall a great knife that I can highly recommend.

The 164 is the dressier version on this frame. I also has an all steel construction, but features smooth white bone covers and over all better fit and finish over the other two. Really great looking new piece in my collection.
